Color-coordinated Mood Necklace

by Megan Piper

We found the perfect color coordination with this mixture of rainbow iridescent seed beads and color-changing Mirage Ocean Pearl mood beads - a most complementary pairing indeed. Because of the rainbow luster on the seed beads, the mood beads will always match - no matter what mood or temperature you are in. There are so many hidden hues in this necklace that you can coordinate it with many different color options in your wardrobe. The TierraCast brass findings nicely compliment the topaz undertone in the seed beads, as well. The finished length of this necklace is approximately 22 inches.

step 1
step 1
Cut your thread into 1-yard sections. Attempt to leave the seed beads on their thread as you cut open the seed bead hank. Add a piece of tape on to one end of the thread.

TIP: It is much faster sticking the needle through the seed beads on the strings and moving them on to the new thread than individually.

Thread your needle on the other side. Thread on about 8 inches of seed beads. Add a 6mm daisy, mirage bead and another 6mm daisy. Thread on 2 inches worth of seed beads. Add a 6mm daisy, mirage bead, and another 6mm daisy. Thread on another 2 inches worth of seed beads, then add a 6mm daisy, mirage bead, and another 6mm daisy. Thread on 8" more worth of seed beads and tape the end.

Now that you have established the initial length, add the same amount of seed beads, going through the mirage beads and daisy spacers at the same intervals until you have 10 strands worth.
step 2
step 2
Even out all of your strands, making sure they are all similar in length.

Remove all of the tape from one side and create an overhand knot.
step 3
step 3
Cut your Craft Wire in half. Create a wire twist with a very tiny loop on the end of one of your pieces of wire.

Watch our wire twisted loop video for a how-to demonstration by our beading expert.
step 4
step 4
Put half of the thread strands through the wire twist loop.
step 5
step 5
With all of the thread strands, use a hatpin to create a tight overhand knot as close as possible to the seed beads, securing the loop to the thread.
step 6
step 6
Glue the knots, wait a couple minutes, then trim the excess thread.
step 7
step 7
Add the brass hammered cone and one 3mm daisy bead onto the wire.
step 8
step 8
Begin a wire twist loop, add the ring component of your toggle clasp on to that loop and complete the wire twist.
step 9
step 9
Repeat steps 2 through 8 for the other side of your necklace, except you'll finish by adding the bar component of your toggle clasp.
