Desert Chic Matte African Turquoise and Indian Wood Necklace

Make this natural necklace to put you in a glamorously grounded mood. This kit combines matte African turquoise stone chips with complementary wood beads from India and TierraCast antique silver toned spacer beads and toggle clasp for an elegantly earthy feel. The natural leather is also from India, so this necklace has some truly ethnic style. A subtle yet stunning piece to dress up your favorite natural fibers, this necklace measures 17 inches in length.

36 9mm round brown Indian mala wood beads
10 African Turquoise matte 5 x 15mm flat bead chips
20 TierraCast 5mm daisy spacer beads in antique silver
2 grams of Miyuki size 8 gold metallic matte seed beads
2 TierraCast 10.5mm beaded 2 to 1 link in antique silver
2 TierraCast 5mm 16g open jumpring silver finish
2 TierraCast 6 x 4.5mm 20g oval jumprings with silver finish
4 base metal medium beadtips with silver finish
2 base metal cord ends with silver finish
1 TierraCast bar & ring toggle clasp in antique silver
2 1/2 feet of 2mm natural round Greek leather cord
4.5 feet of size #2 white Stringth bead cord
1 size 12 flexible twisted steel needle
1 hatpin

You will need jeweler's glue or clear nail polish and a ruler - not included in the kit.

Cut piece of Stringth in half.

Thread your needle and position it at the center of your thread. Create a double overhand knot.

String the beadtip on to your thread with the knot nestled inside the cup of the beadtip.

String three seed beads and one round wood bead on to the thread.

Continue adding one seed bead and one round wood bead until there are 25 wood beads on your thread.

Add three seed beads after your last round wood bead.

Slide on another beadtip. Create another double overhand knot and use your hatpin to slide the knot into the cup of the beadtip.

Repeat step 1 with the other piece of Stringth thread.

String three seed beads and one round wood bead on to your thread.

String one daisy spacer bead, African turquoise chip, a daisy spacer and a wood bead on to your thread. Repeat the pattern until you have strung 11 wood beads on to your thread.

Add three seed beads after your last round wood bead.

Slide a beadtip on to the thread. Create a double overhand knot and use your hatpin to slide the knot into the cup of the beadtip.

Put a dab of glue or clear nail polish on each knot in each beadtip and wait for it dry. Trim away any excess thread.

Attach one 2-to-1 link to the beadtips on each end of your necklace.

Add the one 16g open jumpring to the single loop of the 2-to-1 links on each end of your necklace.

TIP - Use two pairs of flat nose pliers to open and close jumprings properly. Cut your leather in half.

Attach one piece of the leather to one closed 16g jumpring by folding the leather in half and creating an overhand knot close to the ring.

Repeat with the other piece of leather on the other side of your necklace.

Trim each leather end so they are all the same size. Add some glue into a cord end, then add in the leather and crimp in the middle.

Repeat this to the other side of leather.

Attach the ring part of the toggle clasp with a small oval jumpring to the cord end on one side of your necklace.

Attach the bar part of the toggle clasp with a small oval jumpring to the cord end on the other side of your necklace and you're done!
